I was involved in the Sustainable Wildlife Economies Project (SWEP) as a data capturer and field officer. My responsibilities involved: •Reading through literature to help build a conservation evidence database that provides empirical evidence for the effects of transitioning to wildlife-based systems on rangeland productivity and/or the effects of ecological natural resource management interventions on rangeland productivity and socio-economics. •Conducting interview questionnaires with game ranchers, both private land owners and those leasing from the government. •Conducting in-field assessment verification assessment, to understand the state of the natural resource base and the presence and effectiveness of Sustainable Land Management (SLM) approaches. This included plant identification and map digitization. •Co-presenting at the Southern African Wildlife Management Association (SAWMA) conference on the value of field-based engagements for future conservation practitioners and scientists in SA's wildlife economy. Lecturer Assistant

Feb 2020 - Mar 2020
Assisted Lecturer with facilitating practical sessions for a module on plant cell biology. Demonstrated to students how to use and take care of a microscope, and explain some theoretical concepts students may have misunderstood. The experience has taught me to listen understand and not to respond. It has taught me nothing beats preparation, to make sure I myself understand the and to treat each student as an individual, not who they spend time with. Challenges included articulating myself clearly in a way students could understand me, making fair decisions and teamwork with my colleagues. Show less
