    • Career Insight Day – Centre for Public Health
      • Nov 2021 - Nov 2021

During the day, I got an insight into a range of careers in public health research and awareness of working on both a local and global scale. Also, I got knowledge of how public health is linked to our human behaviour, environment, social circumstances, and government policy. Furthermore, I had a discussion on how to create a poster that encourages people to wear a face mask with my team members. • VIRTUAL WORK EXPERIENCE
      • Aug 2021 - Aug 2021

During a day work experience, I discovered about working in the charity sector and found out about projects that companies like Thames Water are supporting through their community investment programmes. I met key members of the WaterAid and Thames Water teams and worked in a group to design our own fundraising day. The skills and learnings that I gained during the session are understanding of how the organisation operates, event planning and teamwork. • Virtual work experience week
      • Feb 2021 - Feb 2021

Throughout the virtual work experience week, I watched recorded/live videos and interviews of professional individuals who described their job, outlined their journey to get the job, the interesting and challenging parts of their job and lastly, provided me with useful advice such as follow your passion, volunteer your skills, dream big and lay a strong foundation. Also, I was required to create a LinkedIn account and post all my completed virtual work experience activities. Plus, it allowed me to connect with professional individuals who are working in the field that I want to work in too. One of the activities completed was a Health and Social Care project. It included creating an information pack involving how I will I organise a virtual event for care home residents and their families in COVID-19 situation. To do this, I created a PowerPoint in which I considered how can I make this project a success and a reality, how am I going to advertise this event, what are the costs and I had to create a project plan for this event, plus, researched similar organisation. Another activity I did was researching my dream job role and what pathway do I need to take to get there and then use the budget planner to work out my future finances. Furthermore, I was required to create my elevator pitch video in which I included my favourite activity/talk of the week, things that I can add to a future employer and my advice to anyone considering signing up for virtual work experience week. • Care Assistant

I worked with individuals who had different physical and mental disabilities such as; dementia and psychological disorders. I built a range of positive relationships with the residents, where I was patient and adapted my communication methods to suit their needs. Some of the skills I have gained were working in a team, organising activities according to their needs. I have also developed active listening skills by paying attention to the instructions and conversation and responding back.
