Since 1997 I have published three books, 'Beyond the Door', a traditional genre novel for children, 'The Chicken Shak Spy', an adult spy/conspiracy thriller, and 'The Shepherd God: Finding Peace, Worth and Purpose in a Busy World', an extended reflection on Psalm 23. I have also written a significant number of Biblically focused articles for a number of outlets. These have included 'YPCN', a Christian newspaper I developed and edited, 'youth-prayer.com', a website for which I served as commissioning editor, and 'Crossring', a Christian website I launched and ran. 'Crossring' subsequently became a significant Christian presence on the internet, with readership in the millions. Show less

Teacher of History and Theology, Philosophy & Ethics to pupils in Years 6 to 8 (age ten to thirteen).Prepare pupils to sit Common Entrance examinations to secure admission to some of Britain's leading public schools.Undertook significant review and rewrite of History curriculum for Years 6 to 8 following the school's decision to move away from Common Entrance. Planned and led an annual five day residential Humanities/enrichment trip to Shropshire for Year 7 pupils, based at Condover Hall and visiting a range of interesting locations, including Ludlow Castle, St Laurence's Church Ludlow, Blists Hill Victorian Town and Attingham Park.Developed and ran a prep school level Model United Nations programme, with inbuilt coaching and training for pupils in international affairs, public speaking and leadership. Oversight of the school's Most Able programme across the school, from Reception to Year 8.Supported Heads of Year, Subject Leaders and Heads of Department in identification and support of Most Able pupils.Maintained a register of pupils considered Most Able, or potentially Most Able.Supported teachers to ensure that Most Able pupils progressed at a rate commensurate with their abilities.Ensured that opportunities were made available to Most Able pupils to be challenged outside the classroom.Led 'Unicorn Club' - an enrichment group for Year 5 pupils who were identified as Most Able but who needed extra support or encouragement. Developed a wide-ranging programme embracing mathematics and English, but also encompassing art, architecture, town planning, politics, current affairs, music and more. Show less

Oversaw the pastoral welfare and academic development of boys and girls aged 11 to 12 within the Upper School of a London prep school. Responsible for ensuring that the school's behaviour policy was implemented efficiently. Led and supported a team of four tutors and four assistant tutors with day to day oversight of pupils in Year 7. Devised and ran an induction programme to support the integration of a significant number of pupils into the year group. Responsible for leading a team of four History teachers, overseeing all aspects of staff management, including recruitment, training and development, and staff disciplinary procedures. Had oversight of Key Stage 3, GCSE, A Level and International Baccalaureate Diploma curricula. Undertook a complete curriculum review, introducing new syllabi at GCSE, A Level and IB, and devised new, skills-focused schemes of work for Key Stage Three. Taught History at all age groups, from Year 7 (age 11-12) to Year 13 (age 17-18), including Oxbridge entrants. Launched a History Reading Group to support students applying for History at top universities. Launched a History Club to engage younger students with History at a deeper level. Planned and led several large-scale school trips, including an annual residential Battlefields trip for the whole of Year 9 and a visit to Poland for the Sixth Form. Served as Residential Boarding Tutor with 24 hour a day responsibility for 90 students in Years 9, 10, 11 and 12. Duties involved working from 7am until 11pm, being on alert from 11pm to 7am, as well as working Saturdays and Sundays. Show less

Teacher of History from Year 7 to Year 13, including GCSE and A Level. Rewrote Year 7 History syllabus and assisted with a Year 8 syllabus rewrite. Created a range of "skills first" work sequences across Key Stage 3 to enable direct teaching of historical skills in order to accelerate and enhance pupil performance at GCSE. Teacher of Government and Politics at A Level. Tutor for Year 7/Year 8 tutor groups. Launched Model United Nations in the school, and established the CLSMUN National Conference. Served as Director of CLSMUN for two years. Public Speaking and Debating Coach. Coached sailing as a games option. Edited City Lights, the school's termly glossy magazine, circulated to all pupils, parents and former pupils. Supported university application process by undertaking mock Oxbridge interviews.
