  The Department for Work and Pensions is one of the largest organisations in the UK undergoing a digital transformation in line with GDS standards and guidance. The DWP currently pays £155B pa in benefits. DWP Domain Architects report directly into the CTA and the CTO functioning as representatives of Governance Authority across the organisation. I have been focused on three areas: Governance, Strategy and Consultancy. Governance Whilst at DWP I have held a seat on the Technology Design Authority, responsible for governance of all technology projects across the DWP. At any one time the DWP runs hundreds of technology projects the budgets for which can be hundreds of millions of pounds. Strategy • Defining Application strategy across the DWP. • Setting the Technology Radars across the Organisation. • Author of DWP DevOps Technical Blueprint. • Defined Governing Principles adhered to by all technology projects across the DWP. • Wrote multiple design patterns: RESTful API’s, Micro Services, DevOps Consultancy • Cross Organisation Consultant on 30 plus projects. • Consultant with CHaPS (Children Health and Pension Services) responsible for paying £13B per month of benefits. • Specialist in Micro Service Architectures and DevOps. Micro Services I worked with multiple teams to help formulate strategies for transformation from Legacy to a Micro Service Architecture. I lead teams through the whole design process starting from functional and non-functional requirements working through a Domain Analysis using Domain Driven Design techniques to create schemes to be taken through the governance process. DevOps I have been engaged across the entire DevOps space while at the DWP, defining the overarching blueprint as well as being involved directly with product selections and trials. Multiple technologies were assessed specifically Azure, AWS, VMware, OpenStack and Kubernetes also their relationships with PaaS and IaaS products such as OpenShift and CloudForms.
