Title research project: "Analyzing possible pathways to align biodiversity conservation with agricultural development in Africa" In my research, I am analyzing different pathways to enhance food security while simultaneously preserving biodiversity. With Tanzania as a case study I am exploring how biodiversity would be impacted by an increase in crop production and how such an increase would impact the agricultural markets.

Development of the project’s monitoring and evaluation system, support in update of gender strategy and assistance with general communication tasks.The project supports Wildlife Division of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism as a sector-wide coordination unit, additionally it seeks to improve the management of wildlife resources outside Tanzanian National Parks through strengthening the Tanzanian Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA). Within the third field of activity, the district administrations of Serengeti and Ngorongoro are strengthened in the field of natural resource management. The support is focused on prevention and compensation of human-wildlife conflicts, management of land conflicts, development of village laws and the district administration staff are supported with training, workshops and technical equipment.

Title thesis: “A functional connectivity approach to identify conservation areas in a changing landscape: A case study of the Eastern Andes in Colombia” In order to explore the functional connectivity for the Eastern Andes in Colombia, high quality habitat patches and potential ecological corridors between protected areas were modeled with GIS for eight focal species of mammals, amphibians and birds. Additionally, stakeholder interviews were carried out to gather a comprehensive understanding of the main challenges and possible solutions.
