The most important outcome from my studies at EPFL is the methodology for problem-solving.

    • Teaching Assistant in “Microcontrollers” and "Electronics"
      • Feb 2018 - Jul 2019

Assisting second year students of the microengineering bachelor, the teaching assistants ensure that the principles of the lectures are mastered by the students. Through weekly laboratories of two to four hours each, assistants do not only help using the provided hard- and firmware tools, but take also part in supervising and correcting the students' reports and final examinations.

In a group of 6 interdisciplinary students (3 engineers, 2 designers, 1 business) to invent, design and prototype a connected device - see our project here: chi.camp/projects/toygether/ Toygether is a plush toy, which has 6 interactive zones producing lights and sounds. The plush toy is connected to the parent’s smartphone, allowing the child to have playful interactions with the parent, even when far apart. My main roles : design of PCB on Altium Designer, firmware programming on Arduino IDE of the ESP32 microcontroller and promoting our product in forums - see Forum EPFL : forum-epfl.ch/

Telematics DataLoggerGUI :A project of Automotive application, aiming to record certain signals (speed, RPM, brake, steering and more...) of a defective vehicle every time that a known scenario happens. The aim is to help engineers along finding the conditions for which bugs happen. The application would be installed on a Raspberry Pi for a first prototype, directly linked with the vehicle, which outputs signals to be further analyzed. An additional feature includes recording audio files from the microphone mounted on the vehicle, to let the driver explain his manipulations, at a moment right after the problem appeared, to give as many details as possible. Tools: Qt Programming language: C++CAN Signal Simulation for the Telematics DataLoggerGUI :Simulate different signals from the car, creating a database of signals and being able to send an array of values that the signals need to take. The aim is to test several features of the Telematics DataLoggerGUI from a laboratory, without actually testing them while sitting on the car.Tools: CANoe, CANalyzerProgramming language: CAPLLIAB Demo :A project aiming to pair a Bluetooth hardware of a scale with a computer, programmed to recognize the device id of the scale and indicate its load on a progress bar. The application would be part of an educative program for Qt, a cross-platform software development for embedded devices.Tools: Qt Programming language: C++

    • Internship on Embedded systems platform
      • Jun 2017 - Jun 2017

Introduction to Embedded systems : The course concerns theory about Arduino boards, Atmel AVR architecture and teaches how to program and construct embedded systems using Arduino. The course consists of different exercises with the intention to get theoretical and practical experience in creating systems, not only in software but also in hardware by using several different sensors and components as inputs and outputs.Introduction to CAN communication : Consisting of both practical and theoretical assignments. The assignments consisted of the electrical aspects of a CAN network as well as the structure of CAN messages. Building a CAN network, program it and use it for communication between several nodes. The network was also used for communication with an automotive OEM instrument cluster (Volvo v70 DIM).Course contents: Electrical aspects of a CAN network; Properties of the CAN message; Build and program a CAN network; Use of CAN network to communicate with several nodes; Use of CAN network to communicate with a Volvo instrument cluster; Analog and digital design of a CAN network. Tools: Arduino IDEProgramming language: CIntroduction to CAN Tools – CANalyzer and CANoe : Introducing both the CANoe and CANalyzer software suites as well as the differences between them. Lab exercises consisting of building and simulating CAN networks. Reading, logging and replaying actual CAN data. The course makes use of Vector hardware to connect to, and communicate with, a CAN network consisting of several nodes.Course contents: Introduction to the functions of CANoe and CANalyzer, as well as the differences between them; Build and simulation of a CAN network; Creation of databases consisting of messages, signals and environmental variables; Use of software to communicate with several nodes in a CAN network; Programming of nodes using CAPL; Creation of graphical interfaces using CANoes built in panel designer.Tools: CANalyzer, CANoeProgramming language: CAPL

To my knowledge, this program is very competitive, attracting highly motivated students. I perceive this exchange year as an extraordinary opportunity to interact with students from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds coming from all around the world. This type of networking is very important for integration of different ideas and perspectives pertaining to diverse global issues. Moreover, I believe that being a student in a foreign country would not only empower my career development, but would give me the framework to utilize my full potentials. In a few years, I see myself starting my career putting to good use what I learned during my studies, in growing sectors of nanotechnologies such as bio-engineering, robotics or horology. My actual goal is to discover the most important disciplines of Micro-Engineering, in order to opt for the Master which corresponds the best with my interests.

Cleaning and preparing the university classrooms on EPFL's campus allowed me to broaden my mind on the organization such an structure requires. Although someone does not think first about improving himself by performing as a cleaner, some skills have been enhanced from this experience such as diligence, rigor and tenacity at work. Setting up the tables, performing service and preparing cocktails and other beverages at the bar corresponded to the tasks I was assigned to.As a first summer job, I experienced the sense of responsibility, enhanced the communication with a customer as well as with a working team, even using foreign languages when needed. Flexibility with working hours are also welcome in this field.
