I have worked with Simon as both colleague and manager. His enthusiasm and desire to improve things is a credit to him. He grasped the benefits of automation very quickly and likes to apply them wherever he can. He is keen to learn new technologies in order to broaden his skills and is always helpful and approachable. He would be a credit to any team.

I mentored Simon when he came to TNT as a placement student, I found Simon to be a confident & bright individual, always willing to go the extra mile. Simon is a very fast learner and had to be as the team we both worked in was under constant deadline orientated pressure. I would whole heartedly recommend Simon and would without hesitation work with him again.

I was primarily asked to work on the media team operating the laptop and projector. I then progressed to using the sound desk, which I researched the possible professional methods that can be used to set the sound levels. I am now playing the guitar on a rota based system, and I have been asked to lead worship to a gathering of five churches. Due to my performance as an industrial placement I was reemployed as a permanent member of staff. The core and additional tasks I was seen to implement during my industrial placement have been maintained. I have helped to ensure that a lack of co-ordinators had no immediate effect upon deployments, assisted application teams to resolve application issues, put forward a team wiki (which I have adapted in order to restrict access only to members of the team), and collated team ideas regarding tasks that need to be implemented during the change freeze process. I worked as part of the Release management team. The core duties consisted of raising changes according to deployment plans, liaising with BSO's, TSO and team managers in order to gain change authorisation. I participated in some additional non-core tasks consisting of developing internal tools through VBA (which I taught myself whilst on the job), liaising with implementation teams to resolve deployment issues and co-ordinating deployments. Being placed between development teams, change management and implementation teams ensured that communication was a large element in the role. I received a huge amount of positive feedback, consisting of other employees mistaking me for a permanent employee and others stating that my manager should reemploy me if the chance presented itself. I received three awards: for attitude, dedication and for suggesting a modification to the office virus scan process that was implemented in three offices. Show less
