We NEVER use buffers, low-loss headers, glycol, 3rd party on/off type thermostats, boiler-type controls, or flow-restricting valves in our heat pump packages. Instead, we promote an "open loop” approach, using the manufacturer’s clever controller and special modulating thermostats to operate the system. The most efficient way to operate any heat pump! We have independent test data detailing that an "open loop" heat pump system is 30/40% more efficient than a traditional heat pump system using a buffer/low-loss header with 3rd on/off stats and boiler-type controls. We generally achieve a SCOP of 4.5+ from our open loop design over the industry standard SCOP of 2.8.   Woodtek Engineering Ltd team has over 20 years of experience operating, installing, servicing & manufacturing a wide range of commercial Biomass Boilers, Wood & Wood-Chip Drying systems, ElectraTherm ORC’s, Wet Flue Gas Scrubbing Filtration systems and Energy from Waste Plants. Our latest design is a thermal combustion system that reduces greenhouse gases (GHG’s) & engineered out many of the service and operation issues we have encountered over the years. Our development team has focused on a precision two-stage combustion of a wide range of complex waste fuels. Part of this was designing and manufacturing our wet flue gas scrubbing system, an integral part of the plant, ensuring compliance with IED & international emission standards and resulting in a 95% reduction of three of the flue gas emissions without the need for costly abatements. From our research, we discovered that our system was perfect for the production of biochar. Our (small) demonstration system can currently produce 1-tonne per day of biochar per day, which sequesters 3.6 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere every day. Based on our 340 days annual operation, this is 1225 tonnes of CO2 removed per year. We currently have five projects with planning and permits in place. The EBC (European Biochar Certification body) will verify and certify the biochar for its carbon properties. The combined projects will produce up to 10 tonnes of biochar per day, equating to 36-tons CO2 captured per day, 12,000 tons per year, and 240,000 tons over the projected 20-year life. Show less
