Simon is a great media analyst, he helped me a lot while mapping the UK media sector and media outlets for me. Simon has a great knowledge of the UK market and UK media planning. I would highly recommend Simon for any media-oriented position!

Jake Sanson

Simon works tirelessly for the promotion and publicity of British Superkarts, and my belief is that there are few journalists with more passion and determination to drive a sport forward. His insight and knowledge is second to none and his writing is witty, intelligent and full of depth. Simon is an important character for karting and motorsport in general.

Checking, getting required approvals, receipting and posting invoices onto the accounting system for both purchase and subcontractor ledgers. Helped prepare weekly payment runs. Reconciling supplier statements highlighting discrepancies. Updating Excel and Word documents used in the weekly and monthly management packs. Assisted with completing money laundering checks as per regulations. Filing of invoices and key documents separating out procurement and administration invoices. Provided administration assistance to the Finance Director and other senior managers. Very quickly integrated and became a dependable part of the finance team taking on more work than was planned.

I did a BA in History/Politics and I covered the following subjects: Europe since 1870; the United States since 1900; Politics and Ideologies; German history since 1871; the European Left since 1945; Cuban Missile Crisis: Green Politics; Machiavelli, Locke and Marx; the Fall of France in 1940 and Studies in Ethnic Conflict: Northern Ireland. During my final year Professor Julian Jackson encouraged me to do my dissertation on Charles De Gaulle's years in London in 1940-44. It analysed his relationships with politicians, the print press and the public. It was titled: "Quarrelsome, Highly Strung and Our Friend." I was elected treasurer of the Debating Society in March 2006. Having inherited a budget deficit, I worked with a small team to improve revenue by improving awareness of the Society and its activities. We liaised with the student press to provide dedicated coverage of the Society's competitions and we approached several law firms for potential sponsorship. We succeeded in achieving a budget surplus. I joined Cub magazine, the student union's magazine as a reporter during my first year at the university. I initally wrote news stories and later on, I wrote features which involved interviewing key members of the faculty, including the Principal of QMUL Professor Adrian Smith. I participated in sessions of the Model United Nations and spoke at the Model UN Conference which was hosted by King's College London. I represented Chile at the Disarmament and Security Committee. We succeeded in finding a solution which was acceptable to the parties on the Committee and the problem was how to reconcile security with climate change. In 2006 I also joined the karting club which organised races in electric karts at Mile End Park.
