Simon and I shared the roles of Global Firefighter for handling all issues from tender to decommissioning of flowline connectors. In doing this, we had to know each other's strengths and weaknesses and be able to play off of each other in order to make the organization successful. This allowed me to build a deep friendship with Simon based upon respect. I have never seen someone work so hard or be so universally liked as Simon. He had the ability to smile or laugh and break the tension in terse technical meetings and change the entire course of the discussion. Working with Simon is rewarding because he has the ability to make the work more enjoyable and at the end of the day, or week, you look back and realize that while you enjoyed yourself at work, you accomplished so much.

Technical Team Lead for developing new tie-in system (UCON-H-10) . From concept to design to full scale testing. Setting up cost and schedule plan. Established design specification based on external/internal customer requirements and in accordance to industry standards (ISO 13628-4, ISO 10423, API 17R, API 17D). Made concept designs and produced full scale Alfa prototype and performed in - house testing. Updated design based on test results and with further improvements. Designed qualification parts and have qualified the connection system for stroke-in and connection testing in R&D lab with external loads. Have worked with several global teams to establish the requirements and optimize the design towards interfacing customers. This includes XT groups in Dunfermline, Rio, Houston and Singapore. Manifold group in Rio and Kongsberg. Technip Paris for Integrated End Fitting design which is incorporating a flexible jumper into out connector design. Show less
