My role at WaterNSW was that of a business analyst predominately however there was some Project Coordinator work involved also. I began work on a Cyber Security campaign that ran across the whole organisation toward the end of 2018/start of 2019. As the BA on this project I was tasked with discussing the comms plan with the internal comms business unit and then developing a plan on how to communicate this information to the rest of the organisation. Following this project I had worked on developing ICT Policy documents in response to a recent financial audit from the NSW Audit Office which identified some weaknesses across some of the WaterNSW applications. Some of the tasks and deliverables included: User Access Management docs for over 30 apps, meeting with each SME to form a process for on-boarding, off-boarding, reviewing users access, forming part of a larger ICT Policy document. After this, I was assigned to another project under a different project manager which involved making improvements to the WaterNSW ITSM tool (ServiceNow). As the BA I had to gather all the stories in their immature state (over 100), provide estimates, speak to each SME to create a more mature user story and pass this information onto the developer to begin development.

My role as a Business Analyst for UBT the second time round involved business analysis and testing. Following the success of the Connect (see below job) project a new platform was required to cater to the demands of UBT's many members in the form of Travel & Event Management. As a Business Analyst on the project I would conduct daily stand-ups, manage scope creep, run through 4 UAT cycles, a Production Soft Launch and be on full-time support for the Production Launch. I had my hand in creating documents such as the Functional Specification, User Guides, Marketing Guides, Screen Designs, managing an entire offshore team of developers and testers and managing the design and development of the Android App. As a local Tester on the project I engaged in Local (integrated) and System (regression) testing and also helped in the supervision of the 4 UAT cycles run in Auckland, New Zealand.

My role as a Junior Project Manager for the Connect project was to work beneath another very experienced PM and help in the coordination of smaller tasks that were important to the overall success of the project. As a Business Analyst I helped in creating important documentation that would be later required for auditing purposes and training. The existing UBT Global Photobook and Directory are outdated upon release due to substantial ‘time to market’ issues and are not particularly fit for purpose due to their cumbersome nature and lack of interactivity. The existing underlying business processes that support UBT’s Photobook and Directory publications are an amalgam of disparate systems heavily reliant on manual intervention. Currently there is limited interaction or automation between the various systems. Expertise and knowledge of key components is also limited to only a few UBT Community Members. This creates risks to UBT’s continuity of service for business critical systems, and therefore, its ability to support its global operations should unforeseen circumstances arise. The Connect Application, both the online and native smartphone applications, aim to address these issues, provide enhanced functionality and an enriched user experience to the global UBT Community, and provide new revenue streams for UBT.
