    • Formerly Head of Sport, Mayor of London's Office. Now undertaking consultancy work.
      • Jun 2019 - Present

I have extensive experience in strategy, policy, programme development and delivery, with experience at city, national and international level. I currently advise cities and sports organisations on hosting major sports events (including the Olympic and Paralympic Games) and on issues relating to grassroots sport, including developing strategies to increase participation. I have been a board member of Essex Cricket County Cricket Club since 2020. I was Head of Sport at the Greater London Authority (GLA) from 2008-2019. During that time, I set up the Mayor of London’s Sports Legacy Fund, the Mayor’s contribution to deliver the sporting legacy from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Fund invested millions of pounds in grassroots sports projects across London. I also had lead responsibility for work on major sports events for the Mayor and was involved in a number of events, including the Rugby League World Cup (2013) Tour de France (2014); Rugby Union World Cup (2015); IAAF and IPC World Athletics Championships (2017); the Women’s Hockey World Cup (2018); Cricket World Cup (2019) and the UEFA EURO Football Championships (2020). I also led on relations with the major US sports, National Football League (NFL); National Basketball Association (NBA) and Major League Baseball (MLB). Prior to that, I was a civil servant working in a number of Government Departments. In 1997 I joined the Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) and worked on Government sports policy and in the Private Office of the Minister for Sport. In 2002 I worked in the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit as part of the team that wrote the Government policy document on sport and physical activity, 'Game Plan'. I am a former Director and Trustee of the London Marathon and an Executive Committee member of the World Union of Olympic Cities. Show less
