Simon was an extremely able and leading member of the Product Group Management Team as well as being technically skilled. He achieved great success with his group of technical consultants, both in terms of success for the clients as well as for Entec.

I joined Atkins after two years as a process engineer for Marathon Oil in Aberdeen and then two years for RTZ Chemicals (as was) manufacturing speciality chemicals in Manchester.Initially I carried on with process engineering design, particularly for a sulphonation plant expansion for ICI in Belgium. A comnination of the early '90's recession and the launch of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 saw me start to get involved with environmental services. This included BATNEEC research for various industry sectors for the UK Government and a number of regional and sectoral waste minimisation programmes.I decided to focus on environmental consultancy and in my time with Atkins had a very wide range range of experiece including:- Waste minimisation projects with >100 companies in many different sectors- IPC and other regualtory compliance services for industry- Development of environmental management systems- Due diligence auditing- Safety studies, including HAZOP, relief and blowdown
