Supervising the loading and unloading of bulk cargo from setting up of plant, to the planning of storage areas and to complete all the necessary paperwork which is involved in this role. Also the planning of labour for the day and weekly rotas for the shipping which is due. Liaising with shipping agents, chief officers, captains of the vessels and also dealing with work colleagues from all different levels of the business. In my role as a cargo supervisor we review procedures and help providing the SSOW to get the task done. Also in the role I am used to working to tight deadlines and overcoming issues to make sure the customers needs are met. Since becoming a cargo supervisor at the port I have achieved my NVQ level 3 in Port operations supervision as well as being a first aider and I have kept all my training and skills up to date on the plant.
