Banqer is a world leading financial education platform for primary schools. The platform transforms the classroom into a virtual economy where students learn about a variety of financial concepts, including saving, interest, tax, superannuation, insurance and real estate, through transacting with each other and their teacher. Being part of a relatively small team at a fast growing start-up means my position as COO sees me undertaking a wide variety of roles. These include building and maintaining business relationships with our corporate and social partners to ensure Banqer is accessible to all, managing the continued development of the product and overseeing our growing team. Although my role at Banqer can be demanding in terms of both time and energy at times, being part of a business with social change at the heart of it’s mission ensures that each day is approached with passion and enthusiasm. CrashCram provides New Zealand tertiary student with 4 – 8 hour revision sessions in the build up to their exams. As one of two co founders, my responsibilities were broad and touched almost every facet of our business. From forecasting and planning, to sales and marketing, I was ultimately responsible for the success of our company. Although several of the tasks and responsibilities were shared, or worked on collaboratively with my co founder, I was solely responsible for all accounting functions, including employment management and year end compliance obligations.
