I had the opportunity to work with Simon while managing the Army's Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) research program. Simon was the Executive Assistant to the SHARP Director and was responsible for directly supporting her as well as ensuring that staff stayed on target with respect to daily operations and providing timely responses to the many Congressional and senior leader urgent requests our office received. I can not say enough about Simon's ability to bring calm to an organization that could have otherwise been chaotic given our mission and the high visibility nature of our work. Simon was known for saying 'too easy' in response to any request and I always admired his ability to maintain his professionalism and calm despite managing competing multiple priorities and at times some very difficult personalities. Simon excelled at orchestrating the complicated logistics required to navigate the Pentagon while also proactively contributing to many of our high-priority strategic efforts - from the development of campaign plans to the creation of a sexual assault prevention strategy. This was not part of his official job duties but I appreciated that he was a thought leader in areas where operational experience was critical to informing the office's strategic efforts. Though his technical competence was needed to perform successfully at SHARP, what I appreciated most about Simon was his can-do attitude, his ability to bring levity to some challenging work contexts and his complete dedication to a mission that is oftentimes underappreciated. I've been fortunate during my time in the Defense department to work with a handful of incredibly talented leaders and there's no doubt that Simon is one of them!
Joseph Hugh, MS, PMP
Simon is one of the single best Military Officers I have had the privilege to work with in 20 plus years in the Army. As a fellow student with Simon, at the Command and General Staff College, he was hand selected by the College (senior officers) to go on a staff ride to Normandy due to his ability to understand the WWII environment as well as the 2021 environment we are entering and then take those experiences and mold them into current operations. I highly recommend Simon as he is very personable and incredibly loyal.
