After receiving a myriad of phone calls from recruiters who had seen my CV on Jobsite, I decided that I would like to just deal with one recruiter. As I had spoken to First Point the year before, I decided they would be the one's to stick with. Simon showed the most interest in me from the very beginning. He listened carefully to my situation, and fortunately for me, this wasn't a rare one. He gave me some great advise to make sure I wasn't worried about leaving my dead-end job. Given the details Simon took from me, he appears to have found the perfect job for me at the first attempt! The job was just what I was looking for and the employer obviously felt the same way as they hired me. I would recommend Simon to anyone, whether you're hiring or on the look for a new job yourself. He will definitely save you money with his speed and accuracy at finding the right role for the right person. Talent Point was first incepted as First Point, a niche contingency recruitment agency. After 8 years working for an ethical recruitment business (“Recruitment? Ethical?”, I hear you question!), I realised that contingency recruitment is a cut-throat environment. In contingency recruitment, sales drives everything - even pitting colleague against colleague. I enjoyed my role and it made sense to do it, but the stigma of the industry and constant mistrust made me question whether it was viable as a long-term career, or simply a ‘quick-fix’ money-making opportunity. However, I fell on my feet when I engaged with asos.com as a customer. I frequently spent 3 days per week onsite and truly became part of the team, both in and out of the office. This meant I could authentically deliver a service I could never have imagined as I worked within the team and knew their business structure and technology needs inside out, as well as understanding each individual team culturally. It quickly became the norm for me to expect this depth of relationship with each and every customer, as well as expecting every member of our team to understand technology hiring in context by focusing on the business, technology and people aspect of each tool, product, platform or even job role. We honed and constantly evolved this approach, formally creating Talent Point in 2014.
