Horizon Nuclear Power is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi established to develop two new nuclear power stations in a £30bn programme to supply electricity to 11 million homes. I am responsible for the strategic direction, implementation and control of all development land, corporate real estate and workplace requirements. This includes: - acquisition of all land and property required for two new power stations and associated developments (logistics centres, workers accommodation, highway and environmental improvements, etc) - proactive asset management of a diverse mixed tenure and mixed use estate totalling over 1,500 acres - acquisition, management and disposal of corporate real estate including offices and warehousing - disposal of surplus land and property assets - facilities management to ensure provision of safe and efficient company workplaces. My achievements include: - £420m site assembly of 1,500 acres for new nuclear power stations - £10m annual operating budget responsibility - Led all real estate aspects of £700m company sale to Hitachi - Developed and implemented asset management strategies resulting in 30% income growth - Completed complex multi-phase relocation to new £20m state-of-the-art corporate HQ - Grew from scratch and led 20 strong Property and Facilities Team In 2019 Hitachi suspended the Horizon projects, following which I led the disposal of a diverse corporate real estate portfolio, mothballing of the development sites and management of all retained real estate assets pending future project re-start. My role was the acquisition of a pipeline of sites for new development, and management of a growing freehold and leasehold portfolio of operational, development and investment property.
