  • Simeon Qsyea is a London based writer, director, choreographer and founder of BirdGang LTD. Simeon has worked for 18 years in the performance arts Industry within a broad range of aesthetics and disciplines in Film, Stage, TV and Live Performance. He trained at Urdang Academy before his acceptance to London Contemporary Dance School where he gained a BA Hons degree in Professional Dance. • As a dancer, Simeon has trained extensively in a range of styles including Hip Hop, Ballet, Physical Theatre, Jazz, House, Contact Improvisation and Contemporary dance. This gave him an edge of great versatility, which reflected in his extensive credits as an artist. • Simeon found commercial success as a choreographer with George Sampson, JLS and Nigel lythgoe’s hit show ‘So You Think You Can Dance?’. This lead to a host of other credits including The BAFTA Awards Ceremony, MTV Awards, MOBO Awards, T4 on the Beach and The Brit Awards. • Simeon has worked with artists such as Ella Eyre, Dizzie Rascal, Will.i.am and also choreographed various commercials including Ariel’s 100 dance, JD Sports “undisputed Christmas” and multi award-winning advert Quiet comfort 35; Get Closer by BOSE. • On camera Simeon has often featured in shows such as a judge for the BBC show Taking the Next Step alongside Kimberly Wyatt, which tied in with the global winning show “The Next Step” in Canada. • Simeon’s other theatrical work includes collaborating with Lenny Henry at the National Theatre, Dynamo the magician, Cirque Bijou, Bela Kinetic, Cirque el moi, Breakin Convention, SK Shlomo, a Company of Elders, Dv8 amongst a range of theatres all over the world. • Simeon has returned to stage working on properties such as “Magnificent melodic Machine” (O2), “Pop” (Round house). “Stripped” (a theatre/Musical show starring celebrity Master Chef winner John Partridge.   • In addition to his choreography, Simeon is a skilled film director. He directed and choreographed his first film "Shadow Men" for The Merce Cunningham Dance Company, which premiered in London & New York. • Since Simeon has explored a variation of work from Red Bull Music videos & short film conceptual work (Fila) to promotional advertisement and short films. • His love for story telling & film started to draw up a catalogue that showcased worldwide at film festivals with success from Wingspan, Take Off and Fallen. • Currently he is working on his first thriller “Pull” and “Itch”(2021), which explores working class British female culture and their tales. • Recently Simeon directed "Flying Home"(2020) as part of a BBC series "Culture in Quarantine. Produced by Birdgang Ltd "Flying Home" explores the idea of self-isolation in this current world pandemic. We meet six dancers isolated in conference styled windows. • Simeon is reworking “White Girl / Black Girl & Everything Inbetween” a film adaptation of a theatre show that was perfumed at Young Vic. The play is based on six women and their stories on sex, race and religion in a modern day setting Show less
