Managing and coordinating the work of the Methodology and Research (MR) unit, which aims at providing technical assistance to other units within the NSO, covering various quality, metadata and methodological aspects of the processes needed to produce official statistics. In view of the central role of the I had the opportunity to engage myself in a number of large scale projects throughout the years, including the last two Censuses of Population and Housing (in 2011 and 2005), 2008 Household Budgetary Survey (HBS), EU funded grant projects and internal surveys conducted on behalf of public and private organizations. Additional tasks:- Appointed Deputy Census Officer in the 2011 Census of Population and Housing. This involved the co-ordination of all activities related to the census, including its coordination, methodology, logistics, IT, communications, data compilation and data transmission. Other related tasks included the data analysis and reporting of the Census of Population and Housing results and the up-keeping of Census databases. I also form part of the Census Task Force group of experts.- Coordinator of the last round of Quality Peer Reviews in Malta (held in the first half of 2015) and responsible for the setting-up of a Quality Management Framework at the NSO.- Involved as a casual census expert with foreign organizations, including Destatis (The Federal Statistical Office of Germany), the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and Technical Assistance and Information Exchange (TAIEX) on Migration Statistics.- NSO representative in various Working Groups, Meeting and Conferences on Methodology, Metadata, Statistical Disclosure, Microdata Access as well as Censuses of Population and Housing which are organized either locally or abroad. While serving as a Senior Statistician in the Methdology and Research Unit, I was also appointed as Unit coordinator to supervise and coordinate the work of the 2008 Household Budgetary Survey data collection and analysis. I was also responsible for a number of EU funded grant projects about methodological and technological improvements in the census.

In my six years as Statistician in the MR unit I was mainly responsible for the up-keeping of the population and dwellings registers as well as the sampling methodology of almost all individual, household and business surveys carried out by the NSO. I was often involved in the data collection, editing, analysis and presentation of results of the various surveys which were commissioned to the NSO by third parties.
