Managing Sports Editor
-
Aug 2011 - May 2012
My position as a Managing Sports Editor gave me experience with managing a team of writers and photographers which included conducting weekly meetings, organizing on spreadsheets all assignments, their due dates, contact information, and any other relevant information, and making weekly evaluations of each writer’s work. I also worked extensively with Adobe InDesign laying out each week’s page layout for my section of the newspaper. Outside of the typical management jobs, I was also a writer and therefore responsible for conducting interviews regularly with professors, students, and other professionals off-campus, making deadlines, and expressing myself properly through the written word. This job taught me a substantial amount about time management, as well as the importance of organization and professional interpersonal communication. Show less
