As a tutor I have used many different skills to improve my communication of difficult and confusing topics. I have written practice questions and created practice exams for students over topics that they discussed in class. Additionally, I have recreated and reviewed lectures that students may have not been present for.

Geology Teaching Assistant

Jan 2022 - Present
As a lab teaching assistant I am present in all labs during the given week to help with learning in lab lectures. With this role I answer questions and offer guidance for the students, but I also assist the leading of labs alongside the professor. I am also tasked with the grading of all of the students labs (about 60 students a semester) and providing feedback. I have had the honor of being awarded teaching assistant of the year during both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic years.

Geology Research Assistant
-
May 2022 - Sep 2022
This was a summer long research position that began with a ten day experience at a research station about two hours off the coast of Belize. Doing the fieldwork in on this small motu I gained a ton of experience in various surveying techniques such as RTK, LiDAR, various wave data collection, and drone imaging. For the rest of the summer I worked on data analysis including a sediment analysis, Agisoft Metashape layering from drone imaging, and an extensive python analysis for all of the various wave data. At the completion of the summer position I got the opportunity to present all of my findings with an academic poster during a research symposium. Show less
