Sustainability Intern
-
Feb 2021 - Aug 2021
As an intern, I implemented sustainable processes in an inherently single-use medical field. I focused my efforts on using recycled and durable vinyl flooring in 10,000+ sq.ft. of medical office space as an alternative to less sustainable flooring. I introduced ideas of biophilia and green walls to further add to a natural environment. I left behind a Sustainability Playbook to enable my impact to scale. Apprenticeship where I led the design, fabrication, and shipping of a bespoke furniture piece. I started within the constraints laid out and spent hours consulting with senior designers about my 3D modeling. Then, I began work in the factory where I started with learning TIG welding to build aluminum table legs. After learning to powder coat (a type of finish for metals), I began to construct the actual tabletop and drawers. Learned the following skills: - Hand-cut Joinery - TIG Welding - Milling Rough Lumber - 3D Modeling and CAD Show less
