When Sida Wang began her Master of Journalism studies with us last year, she considered herself a writer. But she was required, by our curriculum, to also take a basic video news production class. Open to the experience she immersed herself, juggling the technical complexity of the craft with a keen instinct for compelling human narrative. She had found her passion in the rich, complexity of multi-media storytelling. Two of her class projects were good enough to be professionally published, including an editorially challenging mini-documentary, Divided City, Divided Campus that examined the increasing segregation between Mainland and local students at the University of Hong Kong following the Umbrella Movement. In further confirmation of both her abilities and determination, Sida was named the recipient of the 2018 Mick Deane Scholarship for video journalism, named after the veteran cameraman killed in 2013 by a sniper round during the Arab Spring uprising. Sida is creative, self-motivated and will excel under pressure in any media environment.

I had the pleasure to work with Sida in Digital Jungle to service various clients. Sida is a detail-oriented and responsible person with a good personality. Her billingual skill and critical thinking skill were of great value to the Content Team. She also has a creative mind and is able to deliver work in a timely and high-quality manner. Sida can quickly adapt to a new position. I recommend her for any endeavor she chooses to pursue.
