Operational readiness lead for all AHS deployments in Rio Tinto Iron Ore, as a part of the 150 trucks roll out strategy. The role involved managing and leading the technical and operational readiness aspects of AHS deployments at Yandicoogina JSE operations, Hope Downs 4 and rollout strategy for Nammuldi Below Water Table (NBWT) project. Key accountabilities/achievements:- Successful deployment of the AHS solution at Yandicoogina JSE (10 trucks), Hope Downs 4 (22 trucks).- Planned technology implementation of Nammuldi Below Water Table (26 trucks) AHS implementations – the largest AHS deployment to date.- Responsible for 150 autonomous truck deployment planning. - Technology integration and change management – workflow and process changes with the introduction of AHS, for both operational and maintenance considerations.- People strategy and creation of additional AHS specific roles.- Risk assessment, business continuity and resiliency planning. - Definition of critical AHS infrastructure specifications – ergonomic control rooms, communication network and associated infrastructure, crusher interface, fuel/service pad, access/egress to active AHS area.- AHS fleet specifications (HME and LME). Site lead of Rio Tinto’s Mine of the Future™ development project at West Angelas mine. Responsible for all operational and trial technologies deployed on site, as well as leadership responsibilities of the AHS project.Key projects included:- Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) project – part of the leadership delivering the project objectives two months ahead of schedule. a. The team successfully moved the target 31 million tonnes, safety incident free, with a fleet of 5 autonomous trucks. A first for Rio Tinto globally. b. A change in mining operational methodology was created when mining with autonomous trucks. - Autonomous drill project – proof of concept (1 drill). - Smart blasting charge trucks.- Sensing technologies.- Communication networks in support of autonomous operations – Wi-Fi and LTE based. Key responsibilities/achievements:- Derive life cycle models for primary load and haul fleet.- Implementation of highly accurate fleet strategy and capital budget plan – optimising replacement and repair decisions. - Capacity assurance and cost reduction projects through equipment life extension and management of critical components.
