Shweta was always a detail oriented, dedicated student. She had a good understanding of the concepts and hence is able to understand every problem at hand with a learned perspective. She is adept at handling many tasks simultaneously, without loosing focus on her academic goals. She is also a good friend to have around and she will help motivate people around her with her actions. These qualities have ensured her success at top schools like Institute of Chemical Technology and Georgia Institute of Technology. She is currently a doctoral-candidate under Professor Koros. I believe her to be an ideal candidate for any field of technology because of her qualities. I wish her all the success in the future.

Thesis: Carbon Molecular Sieve (CMS) Hollow Fiber Membranes for Aggressive Gas Separations Advisor: Dr. William Koros My PhD is about H2S Separation from Natural Gas Using Hollow Fiber Carbon Molecular Seives. Raw natural gas often contains various impurities, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide constituting the major portion. For the natural gas to be fed to the mainline gas transportation, these impurities should be removed. Carbon Molecular Sieve (CMS) membranes have shown great performance in gas separations. CMS is formed by pyrolyzing polymers above their glass transition temperatures. CMS dense films show good selectivity for CO2/CH4 separation. To use this separation efficiency on a large scale, hollow fiber membranes need to be formed. My work involves tuning this efficiency to separate H2S along with CO2 from natural gas using CMS hollow fiber membranes. Show less
