This research involved a novel approach to triangulate the secondary cross-country and regional data on trade and exports with the field studies on female low/semi-skilled entrepreneurs, home-based business owners, and farmers. The findings demonstrated that women’s equal access to resources improved not only the lives of individuals, families and nations, but also promoted sustainable environmental growth. Exploring the social contextual and gendered realities, the study also revealed the barriers that marginal farmers and home-based entrepreneurs experienced along trade-value-chains. From 2015-16, I worked as Programme and Research Assistant to the UN Women and Ford Foundation’s program on ‘Gender Responsive Budgeting in India: Sustaining Change’. Overall, alongside coordinating research programs, I also supported the multi-country office's annual work planning activities.
