Shreya joined my team as an intern working as a Cloud Platform Software Intern in the summer of 2020 and quickly proved to be adaptable, teachable, dependable, and ambitious. Despite the challenges and ambiguity presented to us with COVID and in what became a remote internship she quickly and confidently integrated into the team and ramped her skills learning new architectures and programming languages. She was a great contributor and communicator, taking initiative, proving her technical aptitude and asking for help when needed. Shreya demoed her work which optimized cluster deployments not only to her immediate team, but across the organization and is currently used in our production deployment pipeline. Given her initiative, communication, and technical aptitude Shreya is well positioned for success in future endeavors.

I worked within an agile team to improve the UI of the in-house CI website, as well as increase its usability based on user requests. More specifically, I corrected the metric data for workflows and enforced the codependency of certain resources. I also introduced MSAL authentication to the platform. I enhanced a linter for GreenLake Cloud Services’ Kubernetes YAML management tool to provide best practice recommendations to users. I improved the design (UX) and efficiency of the tool and continued working part-time post-internship alongside my coursework. I coached students in a C programming class at Purdue, covering material from basic data types and file I/O to pointers and memory allocation. I led various lab sessions, in which a single new topic is introduced in every new lab to simplify the learning process. I explored the concept of computer vision by incorporating OpenCV and Python to develop a gesture recognition program. It utilizes motion detection and color recognition to track a pointer that interacts with a virtual newspaper. I also authored a research paper that discussed the real-world applications of the concept, specifically in the marketing industry.
