My role involves utilisation of Maxwell Geoservices software (Datashed, QAQCr and LogChief) to manage and assist in the collection, validation and storage of robust geological and geochemical data for the development of economic mineral projects. To date the projects are based in Africa, therefore requiring significant communications and data transfer components. I worked as a Project Geologist in a rapidly expanding drill program for resource definition. During this time my role required good organisation and communication skills to ensure all new members of staff and contractors worked safely, efficiently and at a high level towards the weekly and monthly targets. I was also involved in training, maintaining and measuring performance and developing procedures for this. Exploration Geologist/Project Geologist
-
May 2008 - Jun 2011
I joined Equinox Minerals as an interpretation geologist/exploration geologist on the near-mine tenements surrounding the Lumwana Cu-U mine. My projects and responsibilities included: interpretation of magnetic, radiometric, geological and geochemical data, soil sampling, stream sediment sampling, geological mapping, training and supervising local Zambian field staff, target generation, RC and diamond core drilling, technical reporting and critical analysis of historical data. I thoroughly enjoyed the work environment and feel that the support and mentoring I received in this role was an incredible opportunity and has helped define me as a geologist; working in a remote area, taking on responsibilities and earning respect while working towards a common goal of making a discovery.
