Key projects: - Change Data Capture: Architected and built a pub/sub logical replication decoder for capturing all DML in committed transactions and publishing it to a message bus powered by Kinesis. This was built using psycopg, boto3. elasticsearch_dsl, RDS PostgreSQL 9.5, and Kinesis. - Custom Objects/Fields: Lead team in building the feature that enables Handshake’s customers to define and manipulate custom objects defined using JSONSchema. These objects needed to auto generate CRUD interfaces across web and iOS. They are also accessible offline. This initiative allows Handshake to target upmarket and is used by all of Handshake’s enterprise customers. - ElasticSearch on eCommerce portal: Built and lead a team to redesign the search database to power Handshake B2B eCommerce Portal. This facilitated a 100x improvement to response times for some of our most complicated catalogues and 10x for simple ones. - Migration to AWS: Migrated Handshake’s backend infrastructure from Rackspace to Amazon Web Service with minimum downtime. Some of my big projects over the years include: A markets database that utilizes 8 different sources of data, which is cross-matched and validated, to generate clean OHLC for over 50 different markets. This data is used to generate orders and back test trading ideas. This proprietary db was fully developed in house and was built in a test driven manner using python leveraging, libraries like pandas, pytables, pywin32 and requests. Created a new automated back office trade and position matcher, that reconciles trade confirmations, open positions, and balances with the companies 8 different clearing and execution brokers. It was built with Flask, making extensive use of sqlalchemy, xlrd, and paramikio. Was responsible for BCM website rebranding.
