I am in charge of overseeing the OSCEazy x MedSoc Teaching series for the Y1 cohort of 23/24. This involves me preparing a few presentations that meet learning objectives and to present it to the Y1 Cohort. I also devised a teaching timetable and am responsible to make sure other Y1 teachings are carried out as smoothly as possible by liaising with the other members of my team and communicating with the rest of the department. Under Dr Paneer Selvam, I managed to see a CABG done, how patients are managed post surgery in the wards as well as learn how to take a focused cardiovascular history from patients. I was also taught how to auscultate the chest and differentiate between normal and abnormal heart sounds and intepret ECG results. I also managed to see a mitral valve replacement surgery done by Dr Abdul Rais Sanusi as well as learn how patients are intubated and sedated before surgery by Dr Thiru.
