In the Kennedy/Haller Lab, I was involved with the development of an infographic for the Great Lakes Coalition, which focuses on the negative health effects of Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) toxins. I worked with a diverse team of professionals to review large amounts of scientific literature concerning adverse health outcomes associated with HAB toxins and to translate the findings into a document for policymakers and Public Health officials to help inform their decision making about HAB toxin regulations. The project results were presented at the International Association for Great Lakes Research Conference in May 2021. In addition, I was involved in a Bioinformatics project, in which I curated data from the NCBI Gene Expression Omnibus to help create a new database. This database will eventually be used to perform hypothesis generating searches for the influence of disease states on the expression of genes.
