  I was posted in one of the finishing mills (Wire Rod Milling department) in integrated steel plant. The mill consists four blocks (Roughing block, two intermediate block and finishing block) of total 26 individual strands and 8 Coil compacting machines with full of hydraulics system. The reduction gear box of strands is changed once in every week. Dismantling of gears and bearings from the shaft is done. Tolerance of the shaft and clearance in bearings are noted and reported. Alignment is checked and proper alignment technique is followed after coupling of Two shafts using laser alignment tools. Resolved problems which was frequently occuring in coil compacting machine. standardisation of new mechanism in coil compacting machine was done with the help of our mentor Show less
