Bio
Kundan Madireddy
I have known and worked with Shivam for over seven years. First, as a classmate during my MBA programme and later, as the Co-founder of Masti Ki Prayogshala (MKP), the education non-profit volunteering group that we started together. There are three things that set Shivam apart: One, he is excellent at thinking about the big strategic picture and is also great at ground level execution, a rare combination for success. I’ve seen this multiple times during our projects in MBA and our work of building MKP from a three-member founding group to a team of over a hundred volunteers across India. In our entire MBA class, he is one of the ambitious few who started a business, made it grow successfully and also exited it, only to pursue bigger dreams and challenges. Two, I’m amazed by Shivam’s ability to listen attentively and understand multiple perspectives. Many people like to talk a lot about themselves. But Shivam has this beautiful conversation style where he is genuinely concerned about knowing more about the other person. His analysis and interpretation is very astute but will offer you critical and practical feedback in a very non-threatening way, only if asked for, a quality that is very important for having great conversations and building great relationships. Three, while academically brilliant, and he’s been awarded gold medals in his undergrad and MBA in India and is also a part of the Dean’s Graduation Honors list at Columbia Business School (CBS); he has an extraordinary sense of humility. It is a great experience to work with someone who is exceptionally smart and also very humble. More than anything, he’s a great friend, and it’s always refreshing to have discussions on business, startups and social impact with him. Shivam will not only be a phenomenally valuable asset to any team, organisation and project but also a great person to have a conversation with and seek advice and opinion.
