Shinjini is a PhD candidate in the Physiology Graduate Program at Augusta University. She is a dedicated young scientist that is carrying out impactful research for her doctoral dissertation. I came to know Shinjini as she sought to compete in the Augusta University Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition that I have directed for the past 5 years. Shinjini's dedication to this extracurricular exercise was outstanding, and she quickly boiled down her complex research into an easily understandable format. With some initial mentoring, her innate skills blossomed to win her the People's Choice Award in the final competition. This great achievement exemplifies that Shinjini is an outstanding science communicator.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Shinjini Spaulding as a classmate and colleague for the past three years at Augusta University-Medical College of Georgia. During that time, I have watched her excel in her research and stand out as a leader amongst her peers. Shinjini has proved her scientific communication skills by presenting her work at several national meetings. In addition to communicating with fellow scientists, she has demonstrated her communication skills by being nominated as People's Choice Award Winner for her Three Minute Thesis presentation, a condensed talk that explained the background, results, and significance of her research to a general audience within the constraint of 3 minutes. Furthermore, Shinjini has contributed immensely to her institution by serving as a Student Government Association representative for the Biomedical Student Association, a mentor to first year students, and an advocate for international students. She initiated and realized administrative changes in response to international student concerns. Beyond her official contributions, Shinjini is known to be a reliable, collaborative, and caring colleague. I am happy to have had Shinjini Spaulding as a classmate, colleague, and friend and happily recommend her as an ideal job candidate.
