Under the supervision of Dr Michael Lam, I observed the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the retina, macula, and vitreous. Daily, I electronically scribed a range of 30-50 patient charts. This includes noting any irregularities inside of the eye from 400+ possible abnormalities during dilated exams, inserting diagnostic drawings, and ordering and updating the interpretation of diagnostic tests (OCTs, fluorescein angiograms, indocyanine green angiograms, and fundus photography). In this hands-on position, I directly assisted Dr Lam before and after intravitreal injections and controlled the settings of the TRIDEX machinery during Panretinal Photocoagulation therapy and Focal Photocoagulation therapy. My position also allowed me to gain experience with patient interactions and learn the basics of ICD-10 billing. Show less
