We addressed TB epidemiological triad in population-based cohorts with interplay of environment factors, host genetic susceptibility assessed through exome sequencing and pathogen’s drug resistance profile addressed through whole genome sequencing. - Based on collaborative research funded by Grand Challenges Exploration (Gates Foundation, 2016), was part of the team that identified miRNA as molecular diagnostic biomarker for TB and TBI using real-time PCR, miRNA sequencing libraries and bioinformatics for data analysis. - Through collaborative health research project, helped establish IGRA based TBI testing laboratory at Sikkim and New Delhi, Biosafety level III TB containment laboratory at Arunachal Pradesh and Truenat MTB, rapid molecular diagnostics at Sikkim (2016-2022). These collectively, addressed the unmet need for diagnosis of TB and drug resistant TB in geographically difficult terrain in low resource settings. The Truenat workstation established at Sikkim was repurposed and project staff was trained to perform SARS-CoV2 testing and bidirectional testing (2021-2022), digital solutions, data integration and surveillance.
