  Personal experiences with my own children in early childhood programs in the USA and The Netherlands opened my eyes to the limited offerings in the Perth market area. After conducting research into the recognised best practices internationally, which were drawing on the theories of Howard Gardner and multiple intelligences, I was inspired to establish L'Atelier For Children Early Learning Centre. I developed a unique program, based upon offering a variety opportunities for children to explore, discover and learn through play in a natural environment. Despite my not having a background in the field of childcare, over the following five years we achieved: - Full occupancy with waiting lists - Significantly higher returns than any centre of a comparable size - An "Outstanding" accreditation rating from the National Childcare Accreditation Centre; Implementation of the government’s proposed National Quality Framework in relation to program, staff ratios and staff qualifications four years ahead of schedule.
