Sherry is kind , hardworking , understanding , caring and above all she has empathy. She will go well beyond her job to help the student she was working with to feel safe and achieve their dreams. She works extremely well on her own and as a team

Charlotte (Charlie) Hart - she/her

When working at The Challenge, Sherry’s drive to help all young people access the additional support they needed to engage with all activities was evident from the very start. She used her extensive knowledge to come up with thoughtful, practical solutions and supported our team to thrive during some busy times! She managed our team with a calm, considerate manner and I personally learnt so much about how to juggle a heavy workload whilst maintaining high professional standards. I would not hesitate to professionally recommend her to anyone.

I was responsible for leading on and managing support for Children Looked After and Key Stage 4/Year 11's at the college. The support involved safeguarding, managing attendance, personal education plans (leading on behalf of the Designated Teacher), SEN support, reintegration, restorative justice, and building and maintaining excellent working relationships with over twenty-six local authorities and hundreds of involved professionals looking after and supporting the learners at John Ruskin. My role worked closely with many essential and supportive services across 26 local authorities across the country and supported more then 185 young people with their education and well-being. I held the responsibility for a small national team with the overall accountability to recruit, train, manage, analyse and skill match specialised inclusion roles to assist young people with additional support needs through social integration and personal growth on NCS- The Challenge over spring, summer and autumn programmes from 2013-2019. The team played a vital role in ensuring that young people with support needs or more vulnerable were able to participate on the programme.Additionally, my role oversaw the strategy for overall recruitment objectives for the department, the development and implementation of policies and processes. The ongoing development and support of the core team to ensure that delivery of the staffing inclusion objectives was met; while continuing to improve the experience for both seasonal support staff and young people. The department worked closely with Central Inclusion, Sales teams, Programmes delivery teams and Customer Services teams to develop cross-departmental processes and policies that support efficient and quality inclusion practice.
