I arranged, scripted, hired, managed, designed costumes, cooked, instructed, hosted the annual tour event for the Arts & Crafts Charity Festival Weekend on the grounds of Poche' Plantation in Convent, LA for the past 5 years. The house welcomes 150+ people per day. That's over 300 people in two days! The charity takes its profits and distributes them to local families in need as well as local organizations that serves the community as a whole (ARC, 4-H, Sr Center, etc). I also created tour events a few times throughout the year to serve interest groups, hobbyists, long or short-term out-of-town guests, fundraisers, school groups. Show less

In the state of Louisiana each school must have a name. We choose The White House Training Academy for our home school. I home educated our four children until their high school graduation. I was sent on assignments to interview and write about local interests of St. James Parish. Topics included fire station merge, history of houses and plantations, school functions and events, weather events (flooding, tornado), community gatherings, awards banquets, special people that do great jobs, etc. I also assisted with social media as needed. Along with my children I helped set-up and taught various stations (ranging from 6-20 different stations) that entwined hands-on learning experiences, thought-provoking knowledge and applied understanding that goes along with realizing "where your food comes from" by working backwards from a known fast food item (ie: hamburger, taco, hot dog, etc.). Through the lense of agriculture and education each year hundreds of students - and sometimes their adult caretakers - from our parish and the surrounding parishes are taught to appreciate the finished product of the foods they eat by the different ingredients back to their origins, either plant or animal life.
