Kaplan's mission statement compelled each employee to push beyond operational tasks to and consider what role we each played in supporting each individual's educational and career success. As the Utah/Idaho Area Director my energies were focused on identifying and developing key business opportunities and establishing process and protocol that ensured each student a quality learning experience. In support of those goals some of my specific responsibilities were:Business Growth Pursued consistent business growth by both identifying new sales opportunities but also by ensuring each student's experience was outstanding for quality word of mouth. Staff Development: Oversaw the hiring, training, and professional development of the full-time employees and part-time customer service staff. Set tone for staff and conducted quarterly training. Key Relationships: Identified and worked with the gatekeepers at the local high schools, technical programs, and universities. Built rapport and identified learning solutions for their student populations.Classroom Management: Ensuring that the classroom based experience met the Kaplan standard for learning. Worked with full-time team to hire outstanding on-site representatives and instructors. Conducted monthly hiring sessions and quarterly training for instructor base (base fluctuated between 10-50 per location depending on season). Facility Management: The Utah and Idaho region consisted of two brick and mortar learning facilities as well as multiple satellite facilities, like high schools or universities, or temporary business offices. Worked to identify the opportunities and secure the facilities - including location scouting, contract negotiation, and facility contact relationship. Overall Business Health: In addition to identifying and pursuing growth opportunities, compiled operating budget for each location.
