Service Dog Trainer
-
Jan 2013 - Present
Shelly uses only positive reinforcement. She continues to advance her service dog training skills hands-on experience and on-line courses. Shelly and her husband, Miami, have lived all over – spending 11 years on sailboats, owning a horse farm for 10 years and now, traveling in a 5th wheel. During their travels, they raised and home schooled two boys. In 2010 Shelly volunteered with a service dog organization and trained her own dog, Goose, to be a medical alert dog. Goose traveled from Washington, DC to the Florida Keys for four years, bringing awareness about PTS, TBI and other psychiatric disorders. The more talks Goose and Shelly did the more she realized how great the need was for qualified assistance dogs. Shelly joined Atlas in 2018 in hopes of making a huge impact in the lives of people who want to train and certify their own dogs. One year later, she completed the Atlas Service Dog courses and feels extremely blessed to be working with people with disabilities. Shelly is currently in the mid-west. Show less
