'Authentic'! 'Passionate'! 'Smart'! Shelley is all of these and more. She's really good at understanding and appreciating what's the key message that needs to be shared, with whom and to what hoped for, and planned for outcome. And what's really important is that Shelley's not afraid to challenge herself, and those around her!

I worked with Shelley at the Kent and Medway Commissioning Support group which looks after the publicity and media relations for clinical commissioning groups. Her can-do attitude makes her a joy to work with. She is always very professional, works hard and hits deadlines. She also has lots of great ideas for going that extra mile, especially when she decided to launch a new medical "app" with a Christmas carol singalong in a shopping centre!

The council had been without a comms team for four years when I took on this role so I had to build a team and reputation from scratch. I relaunched the council magazine, set up a media monitoring system, built relationships up with the local media, and improved internal comms massively, including the launch of an internal newsletter. This all helped to improve the reputation and good news coverage of the council.
