Began hosting in-person events in San Diego for local French speakers and Duolingo learners. Moved online in March/April 2020 due to COVID and grew community attendance from 4/10 learners per events to 40/60 per event; event RSVPs are often full for each event. Works with the Duolingo Event Team in order to address platform issues, improve event formats, and overall learner experience. Host seven weekly events in French and German and pop-up Spanish poetry events take place monthly. Manage our Facebook Group Page and our Discord Server where learners can share resources, practice French/German, discover new music in their target language, and explore cultures in the target language, as well as their own global cultures. With advanced learners Francophone literature has been read and explored: Huis Clos, Jean-Paul Sarte; L'étranger, Albert Camus; Meursault, contre-enquête, Kamel Daoud; Traversée de la mangrove, Maryse Condé. Increased email reach 1900% in the past year.
