As a fellow people manager, Shelby's style always struck me as a style steeped in humanity and authenticity. Shelby's reports respected Shelby and her ability to see them as people and as individuals. What Shelby demonstrated was not a skill, but a unique ability to connect with and inspire the people around her, especially her direct reports.
