With the goal of increasing the number of high-achieving, low- and moderate-income students who apply to, matriculate, and graduate from high graduation rate colleges and universities, I leverage technology and comprehensive data tracking and analysis to advise ~180 students and their families from across the country.By March of my first year, I exceeded the program benchmark goals for student engagement (exceeded by 24%), parent engagement (exceeded by 5%), financial aid document completion (exceeded by 14%), and informed college application behaviors (exceeded by 6%).Selected to participate in University of Chicago's Counselor Fly-in Program. Created, presented, and recorded a webinar with colleagues about the Chicago institutions we visited in order to preserve the information for future advisers and students to pull information from. Since July, I have visited 9 campuses to learn about the environment and specific resources they provide to underrepresented student populations.Member of the eResources committee working to develop a website compiled of best practices surrounding each of the four core curriculum meetings. The website development and content involves an ongoing process of collaboration among other committees, conducting focus groups, and regular meetings with members of leadership in order to create a sustainable final product to inform adviser onboarding and practices moving forward. Developed a working document to track effective text messages. As the document becomes more comprehensive, I envision integrating an expectation that all advisers track any mass messaging in order to create a more representative document that will allow team members to analyze and make conclusions about the factors that lead to effective outreach.Facilitating virtual meetings with 1) college students and prospective students who are unable to visit given campus closures and, 2) in-school advisers who are learning to serve their communities virtually. Due to a fire, the Boys & Girls Club was conducting daily operations in three locations. After onboarding months after the fire, I directed and managed overall daily operations at each location. Primarily focused on staff development and empowerment, how to strategically structure programming under the new circumstances, and high-quality program development and implementation. Along with a clear focus on program outcomes and services, supervision and training of staff, facilities management, membership development, and program outcomes. Developing a vision for the Club involved daily relationship building with staff, youth members, school staff, and community stakeholders in order to fully understand the community context, history, and priorities. Additionally, I worked to raise a sense of ownership and autonomy among the 12 Youth Development Staff I managed. This involved goal setting, and regular opportunities for staff to build and showcase their strengths and have their voices amplified. Utilized personal guidance, leadership skills, and progressive disciplinary practices as necessary and appropriate with members, staff and volunteers to ensure safety for all parties. Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures. Show less
