I have known Mr. Chandrashekar Venkataramans since he applied to enrol in Deakin’s MBA Business Practicum Unit, offered by the Deakin Graduate School of Business. The unit offers a senior MBA student the opportunity to engage in conducting a project over a trimester period in a selected host organisation. I would like to add that students who are accepted to this unit need to demonstrate high level of academic achievements as well as a suitable personality and character to communicate in a place of work. The comments that follow are based on my observation and evaluation of Mr. Venkataraman’s work during this program and the review of his academic performance in achieving his results. Upon being accepted to the Practicum program, Mr. Venkataraman was placed at the Prime Time financial Counsellors Pty Ltd, a financial planning organisation, to conduct a project. The project included a major review of the organisation’s strategic plan. The conduct of this project required a large scale search for information, the review of the organisation’s market segment, assessment of their existing client’s satisfaction, potential clients expectations, review of the competition, the target market’s characteristics assessment, and the overall market attractiveness and growth potentials as well as the planning process and implementation of the organisation’s long term direction. Mr. Venkataraman conducted a thorough search and collection of data, analysed and arranged the information and prepared a comprehensive plan for Prime Time Counsellors Pty Ltd. This project was conducted under the supervision of a senior academic supervisor. The conduct of this project and the results reported demonstrated a substantial ability by Mr. Venkataraman to independently plan, conduct and complete a highly involved program within the time limit allowed. The final report provided included a list of recommendations for future use by the company. Mr. Venkataraman also made an impressive oral presentation of the project to the management of Prime Time and the senior managers of the Deakin Graduate School of Business. Mr. Venkataraman demonstrated the ability to apply himself to the project requirements and completed all the assessment tasks of the unit very well and has been able to achieve high standard results in all components of the unit. Mr. Venkataraman is a well-disciplined and punctual person, with clear understanding of responsibility and cooperation. As a Practicum student he communicated effectively with the appointed manager at the company, and the Unit Chair of the Practicum unit during the conduct of the project. All individuals involved reported his conduct to be very professional demonstrating high level of communication and sensitivity to organisational culture. I would recommend Mr. Venkataraman for any position, which requires consistency, high level of effort, attention to details, and commitment to positive results.
