COJ is a Center of Hope,Strength and Healing for grieving children, teens and adults. It is also a bereavement ministry of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish. 1993 I was widowed at the age of 37 and a mother of three children. At the time of my husbands death I was a sales representive at P&G. I prayed to God to show me what I was to do with the rest of my life. God gave me the vision I would one day have a breavement center. 1994 I began my studies in the field of bereavement 1995 Remarried Tom Kanoza widower who is a director of COJ. Together we've raised 5 children and have 8 grandchildren. 1996 I developed the bereavement ministry Companions on a Journey Grief Support( COJ) at St. Maximilian Kolbe parish facilitating one open grief support group and over the years developed other grief specific support groups. 2000 Co-developed Teens in Grief Support program with Patricia Buckley which goes into area schools. 2004 partnered with Linda Sullivan bereaved mother to further develop the ministry. 2007 COJ incorperated as a faith based non-profit organization in order to meet the needs of the bereaved throughoout the Greater Cincinnati area. 2008 Co- Developed Seasons of Grief Newsletter/ and have written articles published throughout the US. Co-developed Parish Bereavement network 2010 Adopted Mending Hearts for Grieving Children 2012 Facilitate 35 various support and social outreach groups for children teens and adults. Offer trainings for bereavement and QPR in the prevention of suicide at area churches, hospitals, businesses, colleges. -I am a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Living Water Prayer Group, and helped co-founded the Prayer Shawl Ministry. It is truly a blessing to be able to serve Our Lord and to be a part of this very blessed parish and ministry. Show less
