The Chief Probation Officer plans, organizes, and directs all juvenile and adult probation operations, the juvenile detention facility, and programs and activities of the Probation Department. This position is responsible for leading the Santa Clara County the Probation Department’s juvenile and adult operations and allocating resources in a manner that maximizes efficiency in supervision, treatment and rehabilitation operations and enhances service to the public. •Oversee a budget of $130 million (US) and supervise and evaluate the work of staff of approximately 1100 in seven divisions: Juvenile Court Services, Juvenile Placement, Juvenile Field Operations, Adult Court Services, Adult Field Operations, and Internal Support Operations.•Establish, evaluate, monitor and revise Probation Department goals, objectives, policies, practices and procedures and direct the efforts of executive level Department management personnel in the planning and managing of departmental activities.•Provide and maintain effective and responsive relationships with the Courts, law enforcement agencies, county departments, and community groups.•Create a vision and direction for the department to respond to issues in the 21st century.•Collaborate with the Court and the County in allocating resources to support innovative programs for juvenile and adult offenders while maintaining effective core programs.•Provide leadership and strategic direction with the design and construction of the new Youth Detention Facility.•Collaborates with NGOs in developing cutting edge programs
