I work in a lab for a Psychology research project and assist with organizing and entering data that comes back from in-field research activities. Additionally, I prepare the materials needed for the field research. I work with the principal investigators and graduate student research coordinators to discuss how to improve methods, analyze results, and prepare for the in-field research. I directly shadowed the physician during all of his vascular surgeries ranging from laser surgeries like endovenous ablation to more cosmetic procedures like phlebectomy and sclerotherapy. Additionally, I observed consultations with the physician. For a handful of patients, I was able to observe from the start of their consultation to their procedure, and all the way to their follow-up. This gave me an insight into how the process of surgical procedures work. I also worked closely alongside the surgical technicians and observed their role in prepping and cleaning up the patient. After a few weeks of observing I was able to assist the technicians in prepping the patients for surgery and cleaning the OR room for the next procedure. Show less
